Description of the Program

  • 120 Credit Points in 4 Semesters
  • 1st and 2nd semester main course work
  • 3rd Semester start of research period
  • 4th Semester Master Thesis

The graduates of the program will be able to use  in-depth mathematical and scientific knowledge at the interface between medicine, biology and physics. They learn how to apply their knowledge in interdisciplinary research (e.g., biotechnology, new and classical diagnostic tools...), and contributing directly or indirectly to the improvement of medical care.

The Program has two areas of specialization or tracks:

Track A: Medical Physics

The focus area Medical Physics prepares students for a career as a medical physics expert (MPE) in a hospital, as well as for a career in the healthcare and medical device industry or in research in this field. This focus area is strengthened by close cooperation with staff from hospitals and research institutions.

Track B: Physics of Living Systems

The focus area Physics of Living Systems is about applying the laws of physics to the phenomena of life. To this end, students expand and deepen their knowledge of the fundamentals of neuroinformatics and biochemistry, among other things, and learn about various research methods.

Further details can be found on the webpages about the course structure, detailed description of the modules and examination regulations.
